Mr. Nicolas Gabriel boasts an extensive professional trajectory characterized by diverse
roles and accomplishments within the logistics and maritime sectors. Commencing his
career with Stoppe Spedition GmbH from 1991 to 1994, Mr. Gabriel underwent
vocational training as a forwarding agent, honing his skills within the German Dual
System. Transitioning to Kieserling Spedition + Logistik GmbH from 1995 to 1998, he
served as a forwarding agent, specializing in long-distance truck scheduling. His tenure
at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics from 2001 to 2002 saw him excel in the capacity of an
executive assistant.
Since 2002, Mr. Gabriel has been an integral member of the Battermann & Tillery
GmbH / Battermann & Tillery Global Marine GmbH, where he has played pivotal roles in
cargo and marine surveying. Serving as the branch manager in Cologne from 2002 to
2004, he later assumed responsibility for International Operations, a position he has
held since 2004. Noteworthy among his achievements is the execution of over 5,000
survey reports in marine and transportation claims, along with approximately 750
reports in loss prevention between 2013 and 2023. Over the course of his tenure, Mr.
Gabriel has surpassed 12,000 survey reports and has provided expert testimony in
eight court cases.
In addition to his practical contributions, Mr. Gabriel has made significant scholarly
contributions to the field, evidenced by his authored articles and presentations. Notable
among these are his article titled "ISPM 15 ‐ Background and Challenges," published
in 2019 on LinkedIn, the company website, and IUMI, along with his successful
webinars on Transport Packaging, Cargo Securing, and Flexitank Transports, which
collectively garnered participation from thousands of industry professionals.
Furthermore, Mr. Gabriel has contributed various technical articles to the IUMI Eye
Newsletter.
Joined Lion of Kenya Insurance Company Ltd in 2006 as an Assistant Manager in charge of
accident assessments. Appointed to represent AKI at KEBS task force on Used Motor Vehicle
Spare Parts Standards in 2009.
Mr. Gabriel's academic pursuits further underscore his commitment to professional
development. He completed his business management studies in Logistics, Materials,
and Supply Chain Management at the DAV Deutsche Außenhandels- und Verkehrs-
Akademie from 1998 to 2000. Subsequently, he earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in
Logistics & Marketing from Oxford Brookes University in 2000 to 2001.
